Getting Domesticated

I don't even know if domesticated is a word. I'm guessing so since it didn't come up on my spell check, but besides school, that's one thing that I've been up to. After my many bridal showers I started to become overwhelmed with all of the kitchen supplies, tools and recipes I was given. I thought "I'm not even a wife yet, and apparently I've already failed." You see, anyone who knows me, knows that I'm not known for my cooking or baking. My list of sweet skills has never included anything to do with the kitchen. I am learning. I am no longer mooching off of Aubrey's great cooking (thanks for not making me starve at SUU.) She used to call my mom crying about how I only come over to eat whatever she's made for dinner and then immediately leave. In my defense, I was mostly going to dance rehearsal. But not always, so I'm apologizing now... I was 18 and hopefully I'm not as rude as I once was. Also, I broke my mom's mixer making cookies. Really, making cookies. Don't ask how, I'm just proving that the skills were absent in the kitchen. Well, I'm learning. I'm turning a new page in the life of Meg and I pulled my "canary yellow" KitchenAid mixer out of the box (after only 6 months of recieving it) and baked cookies, BY MYSELF WITHOUT ANY HELP AND DIDN'T RUIN A SINGLE BATCH! My mixer is still in great shape and I got an A+ report from everyone who ended up eating them. I know, you're either thinking "Meg? Seriously? You made something not out of a box?" or "Wow, you are one pathetic loser!" Well, I seriously did! And I'd like to think of myself as special instead of a loser. Loser is a negative word and I'm working on being more positive and optimistic (thanks for the push Madi). On the cooking end, I am becoming quite the pro of putting things in the Crock-pot and making rice or mashed potatoes to go with the finished Crock-pot product. LOVE THE CROCK-POT! I can't emphasize that enough! Wow, this was longer than I had planned. Sorry for the long read...

I Love my Husband

So, with Valentines Day coming up I told Steve a couple of weeks ago that I didn't want him to get me flowers. #1: Steve thinks that spending money on something that lasts a week is a waste and #2: I don't see the point in spending 3x the amount of cash on one day when you can get a better deal on them any other day of the year. I am a girl who enjoys getting flowers every now and then and so I told him that I'd rather he suprise me when he feels so inclined then feel forced and spend when he doesn't want to... Can you tell we're poor college newly weds? Ha ha... So on Wednesday, I get home from a long day at school and running errands (grocery shopping, boo) And these are on the table in the kitchen with a very nice note from my handsome man. He's so great. He said that he didn't believe in buying them, but he's learned that it's worth it because it pays off. Apparently, I've been a little more relaxed this past week:) Here are just a few other things that I appreciate he does for me... I know he does them for me because he wouldn't if he didn't love me:

- He makes the bed. (I'm the one who leaves the house first and those of you who know me, know that I hate an un-made bed)

-He does the laundry. (He's actually very aware of when things need to get done and is quite efficient getting them done without me saying anything)

-He wears jeans more than polyester pants (which make his bum look super hot)

-He writes me cute almost cheesy e-mails (that I absolutely love)

I've got to run to class or my list could go on and on... Love you babe! Thanks for all you do!

Heelys

We all know what they are. We've all probably been bumped into by a kid who's wearing them. They are now banned from being worn or used in Walmart. The average age of a person who wants them and uses them is 8. We've all rolled our eyes or worried about someone crashing while wearing them. Do you know that in the heelys manual, they highly recommend the user to wear a helmet and full elbow/knee pads and wrist gaurds? The last line of the manual is: USING THIS PRODUCT CAN LEAD TO SERIOUS INJURY OR EVEN DEATH.

Next time you see someone rolling down the isle of the grocery store or in a parking lot... Don't roll your eyes or mumble comments of annoyance. If the person on them happens to be 27 years old with a big ol' grin on his face, don't think "oh how nice that that disabled person is coordinated enough to use those". Just smile and wave hello because that person just might be my husband!

A Weekend Away

This past long weekend Steve and I decided to get away to the beautiful St. George. Steve's parents got a place down there at the beginning of this month so we got to visit with them. Bill and the kids were there (we missed Shirley and Melissa) and Michele and her family were down as well. It was good to spend some time with the family. We also had some friends down there. I can't believe that I didn't get any pictures! We got to test out our new bikes and had so much fun doing so. My bum is a little sore though. I'm not going to lie, I need to get used to it, but we're excited for the snow to melt. It was such nice weather and it was a bit depressing coming back to the freezing cold weather! Spring will come soon enough, right?

ONE YEAR

Yes, it's been a year since the first time Steve and I went out! Who knew that it would end up being the first date of eternity. I honestly couldn't be any happier. We're so incredibly lucky and are just living everyday to it's fullest. We had quite the weekend. Our sink got insanely clogged and we tried all sorts of chemicals to get rid of the clog, but just ended up having our entire house smell like bleach. We spent our nights at Mark and Wendy's (thanks mom and dad) to avoid death... Maybe just headaches, but I felt that the fumes might kill me. We went cross-country skiiing with my family on Saturday morning and had a blast. Mom might have been a little too adventurous and landed softly on 8-10 feet of snow. Watching her fall and getting out of the hole of snow she made was hilarious. Steve and the landlord fixed the sink after our morning of fun and we celebrated by drinking Mexican Hot Chocolate at the CoffeePod in Provo. It was so yummy!!!

Happy Birthday Steve!

It was STEVE's birthday on Saturday!!!
We had such a great day. It ended with a yummy dinner at Tepanyaki and his friends
came over for cake and ice cream when we got home. I covered the cake with tin foil and
all of the frosting came off. It was beautiful! He was hoping that it'd snow and it did!
The night before, we went to dinner with Steve's family and then went to Temple
Square. It was weird not having any snow there, but it was so nice walking around and
not feeling like your hands were falling off. It was perfect and we had so much fun.
I just thought this was a pretty cool picture. We like to jump in pictures, can't you tell?
